Tata Nexon EV Max: Now with more juice
The Tata Nexon EV Max is nothing different from the lower trim, the Tata Nexon EV. As the name suggests, the Tata Nexon EV Max gives more range than the Tata Nexon EV. Tata Motors has been improvising its affordable electric vehicles to attract more buyers in the EV segment.
Speaking of charging stations, Tata Motors has established more than 1300 charging stations and counting. However, the Tata Nexon EV has been a great success since the very beginning. As of March 2022, the Tata Nexon EV is still a bestseller despite being priced higher than the petrol and diesel-powered variants.
Many of you must be curious about the new model’s range. Will it outperform the standard, the Tata Nexon EV? Let’s find out in this Tata Nexon EV Max review.
Tata Nexon EV Max: The Powertrain
The Tata Nexon EV Max gets a 40.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack that generates 141bhp and 250Nm of torque. Tata Motors claims a 0-100km/h sprint in just 9 seconds, which is pretty quick for a car weighing 1535kg (up by 100kg) more than before. This battery pack is larger by a reasonable percentage of 33% than the standard Tata Nexon EV. The Nexon EV Max ARAI-certified range is 437km on a single charge. Furthermore, it offers a 7.2kW fast charger that can charge the battery from 0 to 100 per cent in 6.5 hours.
The ARAI-certified mileage of the Tata Nexon EV Max is 437km on a single charge.
Tata Nexon EV Max Exterior: The Design
The overall exterior of the Tata Nexon EV Max remains unchanged since it’s an added variant and not a facelift. It sports projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a single-slat grille, silver-coloured skid plates, and EV badging at the front and rear. The only differences are that it gets rear disc brakes and a 16-inch wheel size with a slightly different look. The new Nexon EV Max runs on newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels.
To differentiate from the standard Tata Nexon EV, the EV Max gets an exclusive paint finish, the Intensi-Teal.
The ground clearance of the Tata Nexon has gone down by 10mm, to 190mm.
Tata Nexon EV Max Interior: What’s New?
There are several updates to the Tata Nexon EV Max’s interior. It gets a tweaked centre console with a revamped digital rotary dial as the gear knob. The rotary dial also features a digital screen. Next to the gear knob are the driving modes and a few new buttons, such as the electronic parking button and auto hold. The Nexon EV Max also gets controls to adjust the intensity of the brake regeneration. Overall, the cabin remains the same as before. The Tata Nexon EV Max features the same 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an identical instrument cluster, and an unchanged dashboard layout. In addition, the centre console also gets a wireless charging tray.
Moreover, it offers ventilated seats, auto-dimming IRVM, an air purifier, and cruise control. It also gets a few more connectivity features on the ZConnect app, including smartwatch integration.
In terms of space, the Tata Nexon EV is well known for it (in a positive way). But the floor is raised by 20mm higher than before, which might indicate a higher knee position that may be a bit uncomfortable.
The Tata Nexon EV Max does offer rear A/C vents, paired with cupholders and a 12V socket.
On the safety front, it gets ESP as standard, hill-descent control and hill assist, a reverse camera with adaptive guidelines, all four-disc brakes, and dual airbags. The Nexon’s EV Max also gets tri-arrow patterns embossed on the dashboard and seats. It also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather.
The Nexon EV Max also features an electric sunroof, keyless entry, smart-access card entry, an air purifier with AQI display, a cooled glove box, engine start/stop, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The Tata Nexon EV Max has a boot space of 350-litres. Also, if you are looking for a list of electric car reviews, you can locate them by visiting car reviews in the reviews section. Now, let’s jump to its pricing.
