Introduction

Harishchandragad is a historic hill fort located in the Ahmednagar district and is located at a height of 4665 feet. The history of Malshej Ghat and Kothale hamlet is relevant to this hill fort’s role in policing the area. There are several ways to enter Harishcandragarh’s walls, including the Junnar gate, Sadhale ghat, Nalichi wat, and Indore wat.

The routes from the settlement of Walhivale/Belpada are very difficult. From Belpada, there are three different trails. They are done by Sadhle Ghat, Makad Naal, and Nalichi Vaat. Another option is to combine Sadhle Ghat and Bhail Ghat. Only proffesional hikers should attempt these treks. Rope and carabiners are important pieces of climbing gear.

Take the trail that departs from Pachnai if you are a novice. It is the shortest and most simple route to the Harishchandragad fort.

For professionals, the Khireshwar track is recommended. However, because it provides a variety of views and adventures, many hikers like this path.

Travelling via Khireshwar:

There are two ways to complete the Khireshwar trek:  one way is going via Rajmarg, while the other way is going via Tolar Khind.

There are some dangerous areas on the Rajmarg trail. Therefore, if you have never gone trekking, it is not advised. The trip via Tolar Khind is scenic and includes some difficult terrain.

Best time for visiting here:

1. The best time to visit Harishchandragad is from October to February. The post-monsoon season will provide good weather and a transformation of the area into a tranquil, lush green bed of forest.
2. The summer season runs from March to June. Harishchandragad dries up during this time, and arid weather is typically experienced. The Western Ghats routes should not be explored during these months.
3. From July to September – Harishchandragad experiences considerable rainfall throughout this monsoon season. During these months, it is unsafe to commute through this neighbourhood due to the slickness of the sidewalks.
